M2M (Ministry to Ministries) blog is focused on leadership ministries, revival, and updates from a few of the ministries we assist. We’re happy to share a message from Time to Revive, which includes 7 Leadership Ministry Tools that begin in the home.
Leave an IMPRESSION in their hearts!
In Deuteronomy, God gives us instruction to love Him with everything we are and to live out His commands. You and I are setting an example for our children and we both know they are watching! As children see you and I live out our faith in “real time”, they are able to begin to grasp what faith really looks like in real life, in everyday situations, whether good or bad.
“Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.” Deut. 6:4-9
As parents and gatekeepers of children, we have the responsibility to help them know, love and experience God. We are commanded to teach God’s word in such a way that it makes an impression on them. Think about that for a moment – if something leaves an impression, it is lasting! Oh, how God desires to make a lasting impression in the hearts and lives of children today.
We were reminded during prayer time this week the importance of God’s word in our lives. We were given 7 things to do with the Word of God and I would like to encourage and challenge you as parents to implement this into your family life.
7 Leadership Ministry Tools
READ God’s word to your children in the morning, at the dinner table or in the evening.
Give your children lots of opportunities to HEAR God’s word.
Live your life out in a way that shows your children that you BELIEVE God’s word. Help them to believe God’s word in their life situations whether it is in school, their friendships or family life.
SPEAK the Word of God into the lives of your children every day.
Live in obedience to God’s word and remember that how children obey you is practice for how they will OBEY God’s word.
This is huge!! PRAY the word of God over your children (out loud!!) every day.
Help your children begin to learn to MEDITATE on God’s word. Write scriptures out so that they can be visibly seen in your home.
“In the hand of God’s spirit, a child’s capacity for faith is, in some respects, greater than that of a grown-up.” Charles Spurgeon
