M2M shares an exciting leadership update from our ministry friend, Foundations of Truth’s founder, Matt Spencer. Foundations of Truth is a turn-key, powerful outreach ministry that enables teachers to share the foundations of the Christian faith with the students they build relationships with every day.
The fast and furious first quarter of school is over, and we are up and running at Wylie East. Currently, we have four different groups on campus meeting weekly, doing outreach and discipleship studies. We are seeing a good mix of students showing up consistently. With God’s hand, good leaders, and a youth pastor’s involvement in the groups, the meetings are very productive so far.
Additionally, our district is taking part in a Communities in Action program this year, and we have a counselor working with both high schools on a full-time basis. Our leaders are partnering with him to begin a mentorship program. Through this program, teachers and staff can identify troubled students, and then we can utilize our leaders as peer-mentors to reach out. We feel this has an enormous potential for us to help struggling students and give our leaders the opportunity to invite them to the studies and events they lead.
Finally, another student who regularly comes to me for guidance and help received Christ and was baptized earlier this school year. Please pray that she would continue to grow in Christ and seek him as she has virtually no support at home.
God continues to lead and provide opportunities to minister to students!
Working through local churches appears to be the right niche that God has provided. So far, the churches we have visited with are excited, are beginning to find ways to implement the material, are putting together plans to reach schools, and want to take us to other places! God is really beginning to open some doors and create momentum.
At this point, we have been able to establish a presence in the communities surrounding Wylie, and we are impacting Sachse HS, Wylie HS, and Nevada-Community HS just north of Wylie. In addition, I have had good meetings with pastors in Garland, McKinney and Carrollton as well.
I plan to continue seeking new partnerships and am only hindered by time as I balance family, my teaching load, the ministry work at Wylie East, supporting our current partners and seeking new opportunities. Please pray for discernment and strength!
I say this often, but I have never been more excited than at this moment right now! I sense that God is continuing to build momentum, and I am truly bursting wanting to get out there and serve His kingdom!
Please pray that I will have the strength and faith to wait on God, follow His leadership, and do nothing according to my own ability.
Please pray for the students across this state and nation, that God would draw students to Him, and that they would hear His voice. Please pray specifically for the salvation and transformation of their lives!
Thank you for your continued partnership and support.
Blessing in Christ Jesus,
