The Tactical Chaplain Services were called into action this year as the largest manhunt in the United States took place in Irvine, CA. Christopher Jordan Dorner, a former LAPD patrol officer systematically acted to revenge what he claimed was being unjustly fired from LAPD a year earlier. He killed 4 police officers, wounded 3 others, and killed the daughter of an LAPD retired captain.
Dorner also published a manifesto where he listed the names of dozens of police officers that he felt had wronged him, and threatened to kill them. The response of the law enforcement community was immediate and severe, 1000’s of officers in dozens of agencies began working 12 on and 12 off shifts using Irvine Police Department as the central command post.
Every California SWAT team was deployed for immediate action if needed and provided round the clock protection at over 50 locations. It was all hands, all the time, round the clock, find him no matter what it takes response.
The role of TCS during this event was to provide spiritual care for the multi-agencies working out of the Irvine Police Headquarters. Many hours of caring, listening, praying and adding perspective by TCS was at IPD 10 hours a day for those 9 days and then afterward as needed. Scores of officers, their wives, and families, benefited by the Christian perspective provided by these Chaplains who worked tirelessly throughout this ordeal.
Pray for the ministry of Tactical Chaplain Services and that The Lord would draw many officers near to Christ and follow Him.
A thousand may fall at your side, Ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you. Ps. 91:7
Ministry to Ministries is blessed to share this ministry update from TCS.
