Ministry to Ministries shares a Camino Global ministry update from John and Sheila Tarwater. As I have stated many times that one of the greatest attributes of Camino Global is its mission to reach the lost and train new leaders globally. Since its inception, Camino has concentrated its efforts among Spanish-speakers, but the impact of its ministry has been global. Camino Global has missionaries working in Islamic countries whose primary languages are not Spanish, but these ministries are always tied to the Spanish-speaking world. For example, the mission work may be among Spanish-speakers in the particular country, or Spanish-speakers previously trained and influenced by our mission may be carrying out the work. Either way, the result of our work is global.
My particular ministry has been focused on training new leaders for the church, which many missiologists believe is the greatest need on the mission field today. I reported in one of our previous newsletter that I had students in my last class in Guatemala City from nine different countries. Moreover, some of these students came to Guatemala City solely for the purpose of taking my class and afterwards immediately returned to their country of origin. But everyone does not possess the means nor the permission to travel outside of their country for this biblical training. Consequently, we have the privilege to bring the training to them.
In November, I will be traveling to Cuba for this very purpose. Evangelical churches have been planted in this communist country, but as you can imagine, biblical training and support for its leaders have been negligible. With one other veteran Camino missionary, I will work in Cuba for ten days. I will personally have the opportunity to teach on biblical ethics among those who often do what is ethically right only when it is convenient. In addition, I may have additional opportunities to teach on the Life of Christ. This will be a tremendous experience and opportunity. Of course, I am able to participate in this ministry only because of your faithful support, both through your prayers and your financial generosity. If you are interested in contributing a special gift to help cover the cost of air travel and related expenses you may do so through the normal giving process at Camino.
